About Sport Sciences

Department of Sports Sciences is one of the departments of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of Kurdistan,which has been operating since 1994 at the undergraduate level. At present, in addition to the undergraduate course in sports science, it accepts students in three master's degrees (sports physiology and health, marketing management,sports communication and sports medicine) and two doctoral courses (sports management and sports physiology). This group, like other groups, has educational facilities such as (classrooms, meeting halls, conference halls, etc.) in addition to the specialized laboratory of sports sciences. The group also uses all the university sports facilities (four indoor gyms, swimming pool, gym, wrestling hall, tennis hall, chess hall, outdoor sports facilities, track and field, and turf) to conduct practical lessons.
 Undergraduate students of physical education and sports sciences are required to complete 130 to 132 courses in seven semesters in a theoretical and practical manner. The aim of this course is to train specialized human resources in public sectors such as the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Education, and the private sector such as sports clubs.
 At the master's level, students are required to take 32 credits, including 26 theoretical credits and 6 dissertation credits. Also, doctoral students are required to pass 36 courses, which include 18 theory units and 18 dissertation units. The purpose of these courses is to train more efficient forces, especially in the scientific and research aspects of sports, required by the fields of health and championship sports in society.
