| The Department of Counseling was established in 2012 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and began its educational activities in September 2012 with the admission of 4 students in Family Counseling in the Master’s Program. Since its establishment as an independent department, Department of Counseling started its educational activities in family counseling, and in 2015, it admitted students into the field of school counseling. In 2019, the department launched the bachelor’s program in counseling and hosted its first undergraduate students in October of that year. Following its plans and policies, the department launched the Ph.D. program in general counseling. Currently, the department is offering courses in the Ph.D. program in general counseling, the master’s program in family, rehabilitation and school counseling, and the bachelor’s program in counseling and Education of students with special needs. The department also intends to admit students in career counseling, considering obtaining permission to establish other orientations of counseling and planning. The legal procedure for launching the master’s program in rehabilitation counseling is in progress and the program is predicted to launch within the next one to two years. The Department of Counseling currently has five full-time faculty members, three of whom are associate professors and specialize in family counseling, and the next two members are assistant professor in and specialize rehabilitation and school counseling. There are currently 78 undergraduate students and 56 graduate students are studying in this department. Based on the department development plan, faculty members in rehabilitation, school, and career counseling will be recruited in the coming years. In addition to the above-mentioned faculty members, the department uses experienced counseling professors with different majors in its educational and research programs in collaboration with other universities. |
