The meeting on the "Decade of Educational Excellence" at the University of Kurdistan emphasized and examined the role of science and education in social resilience, the status of professors, and the necessity of focusing on educational ethics and human development.

University Professors Rank First in Society's Social Capital

The Head of the Representative Office of the Supreme Leader in Kurdistan Province universities, referring to the importance of thought and the status of university professors, stated: "Today, according to surveys, university professors rank first in social capital among 100 noble professions in society."

According to the Public Relations report of the University of Kurdistan; Hojatoleslam Hatami, on Tuesday, May 5, during the Educational Excellence meeting held in the presence of the President of the University of Kurdistan and faculty members in the Molavi Hall of the university, congratulated Teacher's Day and identified four subjects—thought, thinking, thoughts, and thinkers—as vital. He stated: "Islam accords a special place to thinking and considers one hour of reflection superior to 70 years of worship, which highlights that humans can determine their correct path and stand on the right side of history through contemplation."

He added: "Professors who teach their students how to think, rather than merely transferring thoughts, are worthy of appreciation and gratitude."

Science Creates Power and Hegemony
Continuing the meeting, Hojatoleslam Abedin Rostami, the representative of the Supreme Leader at the University of Kurdistan, congratulated the week of teachers and professors and expressed gratitude for the efforts of the university's scholars and intellectuals.

Hojatoleslam Rostami further referred to the position of science in society, stating: "As Amir al-Mu'minin Ali (AS) says: 'Knowledge is power (sultan),' meaning that science brings power and hegemony; and if today we see that the resilience of the Islamic system and society has increased in various fields, we owe it all to the scientific efforts of the professors."

Education is Beyond Contractual Duty
Furthermore, during the ceremony, Keyvan Bolandhematan, a faculty member at the University of Kurdistan, said: "Alongside the contractual ethics of education, there exists an ethic called 'teaching ethics' which goes beyond duty. A teacher must sometimes strive to alleviate sufferings that they were not fundamentally the cause of."

Bolandhematan added: "Today, our duty is not just formal education, but moving towards a deeper and more human education; an education that contributes to the holistic growth of the human being."

Referring to the importance of education in shaping human behavior, he added: "Experience has shown that children who were distant from human and educational environments did not even recognize the simplest human behaviors such as smiling or crying; this issue demonstrates the extent to which education plays a role in humanization."
